I totally agree with your statement. When you are performing, you must be completely focused on that activity. However, to get to the "top of your game", so that you can do a great job in the performance, you must do what it takes to do, including correcting bio-mechanical difficulties (like embouchere problems), in the lesson studio and practice room. This is what I'm talking about. Even Arban did things like making little diagrams of what the inside of your mouth should look like when you are tonguing for his students.

Please understand that no disrespect to Mr. Jacobs is intended here. I have huge respect for both his teaching and playing.

I'm suspecting that we are probably agreeing here.
