Rex is awesome! I was an undergrad trumpet player back in the '90s. He came down to one of our quintet rehearsals. We were playing well buck lacking in energy. He came in and got behind the tuba and threw down hard. He set us on fire, and we had a lot of trouble just keeping up with the guy. That has stayed with me to this day. Rex was always very good at reminding us why we were playing in the first place. I am jealous of all of you that got to play in his studio.
