I play a Willson 2950 with a 12.25" bell. I play this horn full time, learned the advantages and disadvatages of the large bell through experience and highly advise getting the smaller bell. The main advantages are control and focus. The more focused sound translates into more core, a tremendous help for projection. I highly advise trying both side by side, with an observer, in a variety of rooms. Also, have you thought about a Willson or a Yamaha? It wouldn't hurt to look into those either.
