I am working on an article about the career and artistic contributions of tubist Fred Geib (1871-1950). I know he played in the New York Philharmonic, Radio City Music Hall, and taught at Juilliard in the 1930s and 1940s. He also composed a number of solos and etudes-- as well as a tuba method published by Carl Fischer. He studied tuba and string bass with August Helleberg. His students included Herbert Wexselblatt and Abe Torchinsky.
I am especially interested in knowing the dates of his employment with the New York Philharmonic, Radio City Music Hall, and Juilliard. I am also interested in obtaining copies of his solos. Most are out-of-print. Any information along these lines would be helpful. Feel free to email me with information. Thanks.
