I've been importing the Gronitz tubas for more than two years now. Virtually everyone who has played one, has purchased one. They are a large bore tuba, with the same valve set that Mirafone is putting on the piston BBb's. They have a great low register, with a wide open high register. I would liken the WAY they play with the Yamaha 822; the DIFFERENCE being, there is body of sound, even a richness of character of sound that the Gronitz possess that I have not heard from the 822's. I think anyone who is looking for a large piston F, that wants a unique colorful sound, should seriously look at the Gronitz. Bye the way, I BELIEVE Alan Baer just won the national job on the Gronitz PCK. Is that right, Alan?
