I own a 96 GTI and I know you could put the Yamaha in the back. If you are looking for a new one, opt for the V6 for speed, but they also come with a turbocharged four cylinder that is not to shabby. Two tubas won't be a problem with the seats folded down. If you've got the cash, the Passat wagons are great. Or you can do like I did and buy a 2001 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 Off-Road package. You can put about four tubas in the back plus a couple of bones in the cab. And 13 miles to the gallon!
