I've tried both horns and I really like the Rudy. The sound of the Rudy is not as dark as the Hirsbrunner but the difference isn't just that. The Rudy has a certain something else in the sound (I think the current euphemism is "character") that sets it apart from the Hirsbrunner. Also, the problem I've had with past Hirsbrunners in the low range is happily not part of the Rudy. I don't think this Rudy is as good as the older 3/4 and 4/4 instruments Rudy has made but this horn comes as close as anything they've produced to some of the best instruments of their's I've played. And it has piston valves for all those who don't like rotary valves.

If you're interested in a good 4/4 piston CC, I'd say it is definitely worth your time to try this one out.

My opinion for what it's worth...
