I'm not an instructor, but I think that the new King 2341 would be a good choice. They are just as solidly made as the old 2341, but a little shorter so would be easier for a middle schooler to handle. The Jupiter 582 is also a decent choice, but I think that the King's are a little sturdier and the smaller bore on the Kings makes them a little easier for smaller students to handle.
