I would like some second opinions from other tuba instructors out there. One of the schools I teach at is looking to replenish their tuba inventory. Right now they have 2 Miraphone 186-4U's and Cerveny's The cerveny's didn't hold up well at all. and the band director was dissappointed in the Miraphone because one of the students had tuning problems when he switched to it. He feels that the horn is too big for 7th and 8th graders. He asked me for suggestions; however, it has been a while since I tried out any BBb tubas.

We are looking for higher end BBb horns suitable for middle school players. 4/4 size or possibly 3/4 with a big enough sound to balance a large band. At this point price is not a considereation; however, I am willing to bet they will not go for a whole batch of Hirshbrunners. Any suggestions?

Your help is greatly appreciated
