Doubling is a must for me. Since I moved so much in the last 10 years, it became my way of getting on the music scene. Beside being an upright and electric bass player, I play trombone (tenor) and I have 10 trumpet students. I think the biggest advantage of doubling is that you have a better persective of music in general. The way I hear the trombone section and how I blend to it, has something to do with my experience playing in such a section. As for embouchure changes, I have no problem between tuba and trombone but I must say that I burn out faster on trumpet.
