This wasn't a gig, but oh well. When going to rehersal for the community jazz band here, I decided to take my tuba with me (I am normally the bass bone). It ended up that day there were a total of 5 bones that showed (myself included, one playing a Bach with F trigger, he got stuck as bass for this one), and no bass player. So of course I took the seat in rythem...Trying to emulate a bass seems easy, but when listening to jazz you will notice that the Pizz. bass is more a feel than a sound. I had it figured out by the end of the rehearsal. But a lot of the music was FAST and odd-ball accidentals really got to me...It was fun. I may do it at our 3-hour dance gig friday, I find out tonight.
