Fortunately for me, I'm in a great studio already, and own two great horns (CC and F). The school pays me a certain amount each semester that gets me by during the school year. Over the summer break, I work at an mechanic shop, making what I call my "tuba money" or the money I'll spend getting new music, mutes, oil, mouthpieces, etc. It's a great way to make money, and I really enjoy the work. It also allows me to practice my horn a great deal, which I enjoy even more. I really don't mind investing the money into something that I'll be using for the rest of my life, and I'll be making around $400 a week in spending money, so I'll definitely be able to afford it.
