Noise levels are taken by OSHA and the AF of M periodically in the pits of Broadway shows. It's amazing how loud they can be, and for sustained periods. Several shows have recorded sustained noise levels in excess of 100dB, with "Big" and "Joseph" winning awhile back at over 110dB. I think I'll invest in some of those fancy earplugs.
