I had told my local music store that I would be in the market to buy a couple of euphoniums for my school and they brought me one to try today. They are part of Brook Mays and I have been warned that they pushed these F. Schmidt horns pretty hard so I thought I would go ahead and give it a shot. I have only spent about an hour on it but I find the sound to be okay, but the pitch has been a terror on me so far. I have never played a euph where I had to pull the main tuning slide more than a half inch in order to get Bb in tune. But...this one is pulled out a good inch-and-a-half and still tend to play a little high. Also 4th line F and top space G has been a hair sharp on most horns I have tried, but very sharp on this one. Have any of you played these and if so, are these common problems with them? Did I just get a bad example? I am probably going to go with Yamaha 321's for the JH band, but was just curious about this thing.
