The rotary horns are great, but most people think the older style piston horns with the tuning slide in the leadpipe are better instruments than the newer newer model with the York stule leadpipe. For college, I agree with Hank...you'd be better derved with a large 4/4 horn and a good F. Maybe a matched set of a Gronitz PCM and PF 125.
As far as 6/4 horns are concerned, MANY people have won jobs (even recently) on smaller equipment. I believe Gene Pokorny won his job on a 4/4 Hirsbrunner, and in fact most of the finalists were playing smaller-than-BAT instruments. You could probably do just fine with a great middle of the road horn until you land a big job.
