Another option you might consider: Locate one of the old lightweight sousaphones. I own a 1920's (???) H.N.White "American Standard" (NOT a "King") which weighs only 20 lbs and has a remarkably powerful voice. Nice and light for those long (distance) parades and/or long (time) sit-downs.
Don't buy fiberglass ... you won't get a "powerful" sound.
