Regardless of what he gets, it's him that makes the music...You can't tell me that if Warren Deck or Chester Schmitz or whomever you think is the best right now, went into an audition tomorrow with a BBb tuba and played his very best that he wouldn't walk away as the winner.
Playing the tuba isn't about what horn you own, it's about what you do with it. Get whatever horn you get the richest, most beautiful tone on. Don't fall in the trap of getting the prettiest or the most expensive or the most endorsed, or whatever horn.
FWIW, I play on a CC but I am in no way biased towards CC's. I'm biased toward what fits the player...I'd rather hear a guy sing to he heavens on a BBb such and such than quack nasaly crap out of a CC that costs twice as much and vice versa.
Get what you enjoy, don't worry about the name or style of it.
