The discussion was not on doing mouthpiece exercises, but on doing them for an extended period of time. In that context, Joe's advice makes a lot of sense to me. For one thing, it keeps me from hyperventilating and falling out of my chair.

By the way, I'm a lousy player, because I have little talent and because I'm too lazy to practice enough or in the most effective ways. Does that make what I say necessarily wrong? Joe's or anyone else's advice stands or falls on its merits, not on how limited his market is or in what ways he decides to exploit it.
