I think the G/CB-50 is a GREAT horn. I will play it in my school symphonic band when it starts up since I have only recently purchased the horn this summer. It will also be used for a quintet on occassion.
I use a PT-50 with it but am looking to get another mouthpiece sometime soon for no real reason.
Haven't tried to get the rotor cap off because I am affraid I will screw it up :P
The one notorious note on most G/CB-50's is the high D above the staff. I had mine professionally play-tested and mine isn't bad at all. You've got to hunt to find one with a playable D, I hear.
I bet David Fedderly could tell you how to get the back of the rotor off. Give him a ring.
