I have a Miraphone 186 BBb that is making some extraneous noise on certain notes. There is a small dent directly in the side of the rim of the bell from knocking into a drum key left on a timpani during a rehearsal back in the spring. It doesn't appear to have created any space between the tone ring and the bell, but I can stop the extraneous vibrations by simply placing my finger directly on the dent (or hanging on to any part of the ring). Oh yeah, one local repair guy (with a good reputation) has already said this is not the cause. Any ideas?
