Sorry, my engineering slip is showing. Q is a dimensionless quantity commonly referred to as a "figure of merit". As John has explained below, a resonant network with a low Q exhibits a rather broad resonance peak, while one having a high Q will exhibit a very narrow one. It's easy to lower the Q of a network by introducing lossy components, but difficult to raise the Q of one except by fundamental design changes.

All you have to do to lower the Q of your tuba is to drill a hole in it. However, a tuba that's tight and "stuffy" feeling requires substial re-engineering to open it up.
