The performance shown on PBS used to be available on home video, VHS and Laser. It is no longer listed.

I was puzzled by one thing. Gardiner is known to be extremely scrupulous about his period performances, and yet the bells sounded piped in electronically. Berlioz might have gone for this if the technology had been available to him. I recall reading that he attempted to use a very early form of telegraph device to cue off-stage conductors for some huge ceremonial piece. But such audio technology lay many decades away. There used to be an unauthorized NY Phil broadcast from the 1940s under Bruno Walter that used what Berlioz wrote for bells. Pianos in octaves. I believe Walter had bells too. It was, you might say, spooky as hell.
