I've been playing my 3050 for 3 years now, and I've never run into a problem of how to hold it. I couldn't see myself playing another horn, but I have heard that the rotor version of the PT-6 is amazing. I wouldn't rule it out even though it's not a piston.. I'd suggest doing what Josh said and talk to Dave, as I'm sure he will be more than helpful.
