Hi everyone.
I am a tbone-player from the netherlands and I play a yamaha tenor slide trombone.
Besides my Yamaha tenor I also have an old Antoine Courtois valve trombone and recently I purchased an old Antoine Courtois slide (coulisse) that fits the bell section of my valve trombone perfectly.
I would like to `repaint`/'refinish' the valve trombone + extra slide-section. Does anyone have experience with this. If possible I don`t wanna make it laquer of sliver plated. I would like to choose my own colours. Is it possible to `paint`/'relaquer' your trombone ? Will it affect the quality of the sound ?
I would REALLY like to do it myself. Can anyone advize on how to strip off the remaining old silver laquer. And can anyone advize on what type of new laquer I should apply. Some-one told me that the metalic-laquer used for cars should work fine. But I'm really afraid that it will affect the sound of my Bone.
Please advize
cheers,
Arjan
