I use a Fender Passport amplification system in conjunction with a MiniDisc to record (there are typically a couple of instruments for each track).
Once on MiniDisc, I use a software product called CoolEdit Pro and the line in on my computer's sound card to record each track. The software has all kinds of features to allow mixing (and modifying, if necessary) 12 tracks of recorded music.
