Vienna Valves on the Tuba

Ok, I am not much of a techno-type guy, but I am intriqued about the "Funky Tuba" thread down below. So, for all you guys and gals out there who address this stuff much better than I, can you help me with the following questions:

1. The Vienna valve seems to move in a more effiecient manner. Am I on the right track, and could the mass be kept to within usable parameters for a modern tuba?

2. Are the Vienna valves restricted to certain bore sizes because of their construction? Are they a viable option for the tuba?

3. I understand that on the horn, the Vienna valves have the ability to produce liquid slurs. Is articulation a drawback? I have heard some nice playing on recordings / Vienna and it seems that it wouldn't, but I am totally in the dark.

4. Would a Viennese valve tuba work with more than three valves?

I can only surmise about why the Vienna valve didn't catch on on the tuba, but I would really appreciate some feedback from you techno-folks. It is really quite interesting.

Chuck
