I was also disappointed with the Silent Brass. If this was their final attempt, it's going to be an expensive flop. But if this is a first run, Yamaha needs a little more R&D to finesse the end product. Nate's horn was pretty fun to play. He said he may be changing the fifth valve to a long one step instead of the two step that is on it now. The horn resembles the 5/4 Mirifone piston CC. It centers very well and produces a dark, core sound. This was also the first opportunity for me to try the Besson compensating F tuba. Pat Sheridan was there at the B&H booth and sounded great. I thought the horn played very well. The bell was right at my head which helped me hear more in the exhibition hall. I'm not very familiar with the F as a whole, but the Besson seemed to offer a lot of possibilities. Any other thoughts?
