What you must understand is that neither CC or BBb instruments are superior!! It comes down to the matter of finding an instrument that you like, regardless of what pitch it's in.
On a personal note, I am fortunate enough to be able to use CC, BBb, F and Eb instruments as I either own them, or have them out on a loan. My preference lies towards using my CC and F in orchestral work. I feel that a CC tuba has a more clear and open sound compared to BBb instrument, which suits my style of playing. However, for certain works which I feel need a darker timbre, I'll pull out my BBb. Remember, it could just be the differenece in brand/make which creats the difference in sound.
