Now I am playing BBb tubas that I have been provided via my school. I am not opposed to a CC tuba, I just thought that maybe I wouldn't have to switch. I have never played a CC tuba, although I take lessons from a CC tuba player, and they do sound quite nice, but what I don't understand is why CC tuba is prefered...a CC, Eb, F, or BBb tuba can play all of the same notes in one way or another. What is it about CC tubas that makes them more desirable to play than any other key of tuba?

I am currently in the process of consulting a tuba professor regarding which key of horn he prefers students to use during their junior and senior years. I say junior and senior year (college) because they don't REQUIRE a horn to be purchased by the student until then.
