In reference to the Mirafone red rot,
It's most likely not red rot or an acid bleed. If it is like you say in an area where you really can't see totaly, that means when the laquer is sprayed it can't get there either. Laquer seals the plolished brass from the atmosphere which causes a natural reaction, oxidation. If you have a pin hole in the laquer or it is a thin area (around a bend) all you are seeing is a bit of oxidation. Don't worry about it.
BTW. The instruments at Mirafone are not made mostly by machines, they are hand mounted like any other manufacturer. The large bows are blown with high pressure water, that is why the metal is now thicker on these horns. The older horns that were thinner were hand hammered. As for the bells they are individually spun and seem to be a bit heavier than the bell of old. All of this is producing a heavier sound that one can use not only for solo but for the Symphony orchestra.
Good luck,
