While I don't think I have consciously noticed it, I think that I have sensed what you are talking about. I find that when I listen to my recordings that happen to be BPO/VPO and the like I find myself awed at the music, the sheer beauty of it. When I listen to, say, the CSO recordings I have, I am wowed at the the playing, the virtuosity, and the beauty of the playing. Only a slight diffence for sure, but I sense it none the less. So I suppose I agree with your observation.
