i believe the horns play very differently and it will take some playing on both horns before you can decide. the conn has a little smaller bore i believe. the kalisons do have very soft metal in the bell which gives the horn, in my opinion, a very bright sound. i played a kalison for over a year and had a lot of trouble playing in tune. the extreme registers (high and low) feel a little stuffy.the valve set is a lot better than what it used to be but the sound and feel of the horn is the same on all the kalisons i've played. try the Meinl Weston 2145 and the Rudy Meinl 4/4 piston valve CC. both horns play really well in the extreme registers and have a great sound.
