Hi tubenet,

I've fairly set on buying one of the new Conns with the Satin Silver finish. I've played only the 52j, one of the first 3 prototypes back when Matt had them at the Tuba Conference in D.C. back in January of 2000, and was thorougly impressed. I'm curious as to the exact differences between the two horns, and how exactly they would affect the versatility of the horn. I'm basically looking for an "all-around" horn(aren't we all!). 90% of my gigs will be quintet, small ensemble, or bands where I'm not the only tubist, but there will be occassional gigs subbing for the local high quality orchestra. I guess my main question is: "Would the 52j fit the bill for occassional orchestra gigs? and if not, would the 56j be 'too much' for primarily quintet work?"

I'd appreciate any input. thanks in advance!
