I recieved my first E flat ( a crappy old yamaha) from my brass band two days ago and have been asked to play at the national championships ( B grade ) at Easter 2001. does any one have any tips for a trombonist who is obviously struggling to come to grips with the pitching of this larger instrument. I am currently quite unhappy about the sound I am producing when trying to play some quick although not to difficult runs. I must admit the larger mouthpiece does make it easyer for me to tripple tongue except when I have to change pitch. Should I go back to drinking pints of guinness or stick to drinking XXXX bitter which is the popular drink here in Queensland.
