I only play on "Helleberg style" mouthpieces, but haven't personally tried the 7B. I had a Conn Helleberg before switching to a Dillon Helleberg. The Dillon has a more comfortable rim. I was told that the 7B is a little too small for a BBb horn and that the regular Helleberg is closer to the 18 in size, and what you are saying confirms that. Thanks for the info.
He still needs to watch out for shank size on whatever he gets for this horn because it does have that small British shank. Most of the standard "American" shank mouthpieces will just barely go into the receiver on this horn. That's why I think the Wick is his best bet.
