Carl, this is NOT a criticism, just something to think about. When a historical record is on-going (ie still a "work-in-progress") historian tradition generally doesn't record most recent activity with the same level of detail accorded earlier stuff. Why? Historians have to start AND STOP somewhere. That IS why the "to date" phrase is used, its open-ended. Perhaps unfortunately, the most recent stuff covered in this approach doesn't get a lot of attention. That necessity alone doesn't test "credibility" of the whole Burns work, just don't let yourself think it's a "comprehensive" history.

f.w.i.w. there were a LOT of hardcore baseball fans who had a prob with certain stats stated in Burn's Baseball documentary, still was a great vehicle generating a lot of relative new interest in the sport.
