It depends. The response, etc. can be effected if the dent is in the right (wrong) place. Dents most often cause playability issues when they are in the leadpipe. A friend that used to work for the local music store said that they had checked around and were told that a dent in a larger tube, such as an outer branch or bottom bow would have to close off more than 1/2 the pipe before it would cause problems. I can't attest to the veracity of that statement, since I only have one horn and I'm not going to test the theory.
