All three of the arms are adjustable in two dimensions. This allows the side arms to expand and contract and to determine how tall the horn is relative to the players. The other dimension of movement allows for the horn to be moved out from the stan to make room for horns that are very "thick" through the middle. You can also set the angle of the leadpipe this way. These things are good in schools if the horns NEVER come out of them. If the are being used for storage purposes, than they are more harm than good.

For people who own their tuba and want something to hold it in at home while they are practicing, they are very beneficial, but an expensive proposition when compared to the DEG tuba rest.
