My brass quintet is going carolling sunday evening and it's going to be about 30 degrees. Last year I played a piston valved tuba, and it did alright, but the horn player seemed to have some problem with his valves freezing. This year I've got a Miraphone 188. What I'd like to know is how does the could affect rotary valves, and if it freezes them, can it be prevented by wrapping them up?
thanks
