I am not talking theoretical equations but intonation heard in groups and measured electronically. Those numerous players you mention get away with horrible intonation because it is not recognized by most musicians when listening to low notes. For example, the greatest pianists routinely play concerti on pianos that are stretched to be flat at the lower end by 20 cents and 20 cents sharp at the high end. If they can stand that then the intonation errors I speak of are negligible.

Maybe you don't understand brass instruments but there are those who do and many of them also design systems that are infinitely more complex.
