I had one made in about 1983 or so, with a .795 bore, a 16-inch bell, and 4/4 overall size. The intonation was manageable on this instrument, and the sound was good--a little harder to play than a Miraphone and a solid, dark, Germanic sound. It's been too long since I played it to compare it with a St. Pete.

The brass was thin and dent-prone, but the valve rotors were hollow and very light and fast, especially after I replaced the linkages. I paid $1500 for mine as a demonstrator in 1984, so if the one you are looking at is in anything like decent condition, it ought to be a good buy.
