1/ Have you tried the fit of the pairs of tubes individually?
2/ Have you measured the distance across the outside slide tubes at two different points with a dial caliper? ... inside tubes?
3/ Have you sighted across the pairs of tubes from the side to determine whether they are skew?

A lot of stuff "looks good" until examined more closely. Tubes that are more than two or three thousandths of an inch out of parallel in any of these directions will not work properly.
