Don't take it personally....but in the quintet I did have, where I played horn, the trombonist was a royal pain in the you know what. Don't know why, but there it is.
I honestly think that the more physical motion that is required to play an instrument, the more agitated the player tends to be. I see this myself in switching between violin, which requires the bow arm to go back and forth, and the horn or tuba, where I basically just sit there and blow. I am much more physically agitated when playing violin, and I think it bleeds through to how I feel in general. I supposed it would make an interesting PhD study for somebody who couldn't find any other topic.
