I think it is a matter of personal preference. Most of the folks who've posted already on this thread speak very highly of false tones. I never use them myself, except for one instance that doesn't come up hardly ever. Of course, all my horns have 5 valves so I am completely inured to playing that range using 5th valve combinations. For me, I experience exactly the opposite as others who've posted on this thread. The false tones are the notes that sound weak. If those notes work for you, why change?
