Huh-huh-huh!!!

You said rubber!!

A great idea I got from someone when I was student teaching was to use rubber matting like the kind you put under a rug on a hardwood floor to keep the rug from sliding. I know this is not a cure-all for beginner players because of body size differences, but if your main purpose is to keep the horn from sliding around, I don't think you can beat the idea or the money saved.

The lesson instructor at the junior high where I was working would cut enough of the matting to cover both thighs while sitting down with some slack between the legs where the horn is cradled. The horn does not budge with the matting underneath. It makes all the difference in the world concerning stability of the horn while playing.

Just thought some of you would like to know.

Merry Christmas!!!
