My Mirafone S 186 CC has a two whole step 5th valve tuning slide. I had previously played a tuba with a flat whole step 5th valve slide, so I had to learn several new fingerings for the Mirafone. Charlie Krause at Brasswind sent me a fingering chart for the two step system, and I really like these fingering patterns. They provide excellent intonation in the bottom range of the horn.

The fingerings for CC tubas with the two whole step 5th valve are, descending, as follows:
E flat (below staff) 5; D flat 125; A flat 5; G flat 125; F 235; E 135;
E flat 145; D 345; D flat 1345.

I hope this helps.

Does anyone know if a tuba with a one step 5th valve slide accomodate a custom made two step slide?
