Another idea that I have that I think that works extremely well is to encourage the students to end their practice sessions improvising. I feel that improvising is a fun way to builds the embrochure, train the ear, and at the same time allows for a person to be musically creative and express him or herself individually nervertheless expand their musical abilty. Have them improvise to learn the scales. Instead of going up and down the scales the traditional way, have them jazz it up a bit; dah daaah dah dah da da da da daaaah and back down but not just up and down, but in a creative sequence. Have them do all of their scales this way. If they do this enough that is on a daily bases, they will eventually be able to do gymanastics with the scales. This is just my idea.
