From my experience, it's best not to think of small mouthpiece/small tuba. Certainly, we don't necessarily want to use a huge mouthpiece on a small F tuba when working on a Baroque transcription, but I think that basically we want to achieve a full, clear sound with clean articulation on whatever horn/mpc. combo we use. If that means using a "CC" mouthpiece on an F tuba, then so be it. There was a belief at one point that if you had a big ole tuba, you ought to use a smalle mouthpiece--it would clean things up, etc. Still works for me in certain situations.
