Your question cannot be answered in a way which will be of much help to you at this point. You would be well served to seek out a teacher familiar with brass instruments for personal instruction. The numerous opinions on this issue may create more confusion to a beginner than carity. If you stay with the tuba, look for a tuba teacher from which to study. This will help you more than I can stress.
