Don't know if this helps, but it seems to me that Rudy Meinl designates it's 5/4+6/4 horns based solely on their respective bore sizes. They list their 5/4 instrumentsat .910 bore while their 6/4 BBb, I am told, clocks in at .940. Both are rotary valves. There has been some disagreemant in the past about bore-size designations. It seems to be broken up into the people who feel designation is predicated solely on bore size out of the valves and those who feel it is the size of the overall instrument. Chose which suits your tastes. Seems to me if it's big, you call it big, if it's small, you call it small. Obvioulsly, the problem has arisen about the Rudy 3/4 CC, which is (AT)a .770 bore and the Mirafone 1865U which is roughly the same size. One is called a 4/4 and the other is 3/4. Maybe size really matters after all. Hope this helped.
